Love Is Always Write story up today

sweetpeas in a vase
My story for the M/M Romance Group event Love is Always Write, West, Haven, is now available at GoodReads. You must be a member of the group to read it there. (I will also have it available for download once I get the correctly formatted .PDF.)

I have also mirrored it at FreeReads and Archive of Our Own.

Summary: We have been best friends forever. During college we grew apart; he dated women, I dated men. Now, we have both moved back to our hometown and decided to share an apartment together until our careers take off. Can he ever feel about me the way I feel about him?

this dish makes me stupid-happy

sweetpeas in a vase
In trying to budget for food better I'm eating more potatoes. This recipe is super-simple and very tasty.

Peel and thickly slice as many potatoes as people you need to feed and one for the pot (I have several small potatoes in this particular bag so I've been doing three). Drizzle with olive oil and about a teaspoon of herbs de Provence, and stir to coat all the potatoes. Grease a baking dish and pour in the potatoes, and add a little salt and pepper. Bake for an hour in a 375-degree oven, stirring occasionally to get that lovely golden-brown finish on all sides.

Eat with cheese melted on top or sour cream on the side, or both.

(I also have some Greek yogurt for protein and fruit.)

Seriously, y'all. This is becoming one of my favorite things. And it leaves the apartment smelling delicious, like potatoes and vaguely lavender-ish from the herbs de Provence.

(This is kind of a note-to-self, too. I'm figuring out ways to better this dish every time I make it.)

100 things: Reasons to love Bob's Burgers

sweetpeas in a vase
(I am not going to list 100 of them. Eek.)

Bob's Burgers is an animated show on the Fox network, broadcast on Sunday nights. It's about a small family-run burger restaurant. These are some of the reasons why I love it.

Tina. Tina is the oldest daughter. She speaks in a near-monotone, wears glasses, and tends to fall in love with the wrong guy. She writes "erotic friend-fiction." She learned a Brazilian self-defense technique called capoeira because she had a crush on the teacher. she's one of the most real teenaged girl on TV and I adore her.

Louise, the youngest daughter. She's voiced by Kristian Schaal, whose voice is ... weirdly adorable. Louise always wears bunny ears. She says weird things. She's chaotic evil. I adore her, too.

H. Jon Benjamin. He does the voice of Bob. He's one of my favorite voiceover actors and I love that he has steady work.

Loren Bouchard, the showrunner. He also developed one of my other favorite animated shows (another dry, very funny, occasionally gross series) Home Movies.

The burger names. From the pilot:
"New Bacon-ings (with bacon)"
"The Child Molester (comes with candy)"
